Spotlight on Cutlery Trays for Oak Kitchens

Posted by admin on September 30, 2015 at 3:06 pm. Filed under: General

If you are looking for a stunning hardwood accessory to complement oak kitchens or match with your chosen wooden worktops, our solid wood cutlery tray inserts are ideal.

These inserts are available in four of the most popular high-quality timbers that are used to create our wood worktops, including oak, beech, iroko, black American walnut.

We use a very precise CNC machine to cut each cutlery drawer insert out of a solid piece of hardwood, after which they are finished by hand to ensure that each one is of a consistent quality.

Choose from sizes ranging from a neat 310mm width up to a very spacious 910mm wide – large enough to fit the roomiest of kitchen drawers and to accommodate for a huge selection of kitchen utensils.

Each insert features a number of useful compartments for knives, forks and other cutlery, with an accompanying engraving that indicates where each piece should go.

We supply each tray fully-sanded, ready for you to apply the treatment of your choice; we recommend using Rustins Danish Oil to ensure a smooth, hard-wearing and water-resistant finish.

Worktop Samples for Solid Oak Kitchens

Posted by admin on September 23, 2015 at 8:43 am. Filed under: General

If you are considering wooden worktops to accompany our solid oak kitchens, we are proud to be able to offer a huge range of timber choices.

Whether you are looking for something traditional to accompany your wooden base cabinets such as oak or beech, or something a little more exotic like black American walnut or zebrano, our large variety covers all tastes and requirements.

If you are unsure which worktops might suit your kitchen, you will be pleased to know that we offer a full range of standard, Deluxe and full stave solid wood worktop samples that represent each of the hardwoods in our collection.

Each sample measures approximately 200mm x 150mm x 40mm (with select timbers available in 27mm thicknesses, too), and comes pre-sanded and oiled on the top and sides to give you an accurate representation of the finished product. The underside is left unfinished so that you can see the timber in its natural form, too. The samples are cut from our current worktop stock to give a good indication of what the timber should look like if you go on to place an order.

Each sample costs just £5 including speedy courier delivery, but if you decide to go on to purchase a worktop, the cost of up to two samples can be refunded – simply speak with a member of the sales team. Our advisors will be happy to deduct this cost from your order.

#BrilliantBakeOffer Competition Winners Revealed

Posted by admin on September 16, 2015 at 9:04 am. Filed under: General

To coincide with this year’s Great British Bake Off, we ran an exciting competition that offered followers of Solid Wood Kitchen Cabinets on Facebook the chance to win an incredible baker’s prize bundle.

As well as a pile of bakery kit including rolling pins, scales, mixing bowls and other equipment, the main prize everyone wanted was the KitchenAid Artisan Mixer. Highly regarded as ‘king of the mixers’, we also crowned it our August Kitchen Gadget of the Month for oak kitchens.

There are clearly a huge number of budding bakers out there, as we had well over 2,000 likes and comments on our weekly #BrilliantBakeOffer competition posts, as well as some mouth-watering photos of cakes and other yummy baked goods.

After weeks of fabulous interaction with our followers the competition is now over, but we would love to share the winners with you right here on the blog.

We spent a long time collating all the winners in order to choose one at random, but after battling with spreadsheets for what seemed like many hours, we finally chose the winner of our grand prize…

#BrilliantBakeOffer Competition Winners Revealed

Congratulations to Alexa, whom we hope now has the chance to continue creating many tasty baked goods, and maybe even make it onto the nation’s favourite baking programme herself one day!

As a thank you to all those who participated, we also gave away solid beech chopping boards to a further 5 entrants: Val Hassall, Neil Hedge, Gareth Oakes, Stacey Fiona and Karen Brain.

If you did not win this time, do not worry – there are bound to be other competitions in the near future, so do keep an eye on our blog and social media pages. You can find us on Facebook, Twitter, Google+ and also Pinterest.

September’s Gadget of the Month for Solid Oak Kitchens

Posted by admin on September 9, 2015 at 8:56 am. Filed under: General

Over the last month we have been busy trying to recreate the masterpieces from The Great British Bake Off (one of our favourite TV shows!) in our solid oak kitchens.

Unfortunately, it is more likely that we would receive stern words from a certain Mr. Hollywood than the seal of approval from Mrs. Berry, but perhaps if we had the multiple blending talents of Tefal’s SlimForce Blender, we might fare a little better.

Not only can the SlimForce whisk and mix up condiments and creams in a quick snap, but thanks to the 700W motor and standard attachment it can also make quick work of blending, or create finer purees and sauces with the specialist sauce attachment.

The two speeds – standard (14,500rpm) and turbo (16,000rpm) – are selected via a button on the top, which can be easily controlled thanks to the well-considered ergonomic shape. Two large beakers are also included for easy mixing, which are dishwasher safe and can be easily cleaned.

With plenty of power and a range of handy attachments, the Tefal SlimForce comes in at a very reasonable price at just £29 from Tesco.com, and can quickly become part of your cooking and baking arsenal.

If you already have a blender like this, or any other type of kitchen gadget you think deserves a feature on our blog, please don’t hesitate to leave a message on our social media pages. You can find us on Facebook, Twitter, Google+ and also Pinterest.

Spotlight on Chopping Boards for Solid Wood Kitchens

Posted by admin on September 2, 2015 at 12:02 pm. Filed under: General

Having already featured some of the key components for solid wood kitchens here on our blog, it is time to turn the spotlight onto some of the smaller accessories in our range – all of which are perfect for adding a finishing touch to your new kitchen.

Our solid wood chopping boards are among the most popular accessories on the Solid Wood Kitchen Cabinets website. Available in a wide range of timber choices, these hardwood chopping boards complement our wooden worktops perfectly, and provide a hard-wearing surface on which to cut and prepare bread and many other foods.

Measuring 450mm x 300mm x 40mm, these chopping boards are larger than most, and come with a smooth pencil profile applied to the top and bottom surfaces to soften the edges. Each is provided in a smooth sanded finish with a number of coats of Danish oil applied, providing a protective, food-safe finish.

Whether you prefer traditional oak, exotic zebrano, luxurious black American walnut timber or something else entirely, our chopping boards start at just £20 and can be delivered free of charge if purchased alongside any of our wooden worktops.
