Colours of the Month: A Colourful Kitchen for April
Whether you’re redecorating or completely remodelling your kitchen, colour will play an important part in the final look that is achieved. Fortunately, the arrival of spring provides the perfect motivation for picking colourful, verdant kitchen shades! Inspired by this period of seasonal change, our selected colours of the month for April are sure to look fantastically fresh in any kitchen.
Calke Green is a mossy hue that looks like it has been plucked straight from the forest. This shade pairs splendidly with solid wood, enhancing the natural qualities of timber for a kitchen that brings the charms of the outdoor world into your home. Like Old White, Calke Green is best used with darker neutrals to ensure the depth and richness of the colour is honoured.
Acid yellow Citron, with its beautiful lemon hues, is simply ideal for a colourful kitchen. This zesty bright shade would really make a statement if used on cabinet frontals – and, for a sophisticated and modern look, could be combined with varying shades of grey on the walls and worktops. For a more subtle aesthetic, Citron could be used to create a great feature or accent wall, especially if used in a larger kitchen.
The aptly named Cook’s Blue is a rich, bright shade that works well in a traditionally-styled solid wood kitchen. The calming hue looks fantastic when paired with fresh, clean neutrals like All White or Wimborne White (Farrow & Ball even suggest that the colour deters flies!).
