Modern appliances generally use far less energy than older models, so you could contribute to saving the planet – and your money – by picking an energy-efficient version. Household appliances are usually ranked between A+++ and F, with A+++ offering the highest efficiency, so the least energy is wasted.

Natural fabrics

Fabrics add texture, warmth and personality to a kitchen, and natural ones are available with smaller environmental footprints. Fabric for stools and seats, throws, oven gloves and tea towels can all be made sustainably, so selecting these items will be better for the environment than synthetic, man-made versions. Cloths and tea towels can be used for soaking up spills and wiping dirt off surfaces as a more environmentally friendly option than disposable paper towels. Instead of throwing each one out, the same cloth can be used and washed hundreds of times.
