The FSC logo identifies products that have been FSC certified

As a supplier of solid wood kitchens, we work hard to ensure that all of our products are responsibly sourced; there are a number of benefits of using solid wood and its sustainability is one that is incredibly important to us. A range of governing bodies exist to regulate the supply chain of timbers within different areas, and as such, all of our oak is sourced from within Europe and is FSC-certified.

The FSC, or Forest Stewardship Council, is a global organisation that offers a certification system for forest management and chain of custody, which ensures that any products created using material from well-managed forests or recycled timber can be easily identified by consumers. Every year, FSC Friday is held on the last Friday in September to educate and inform people how important responsible forestry is.

There are a number in ways you can get involved with FSC Friday, and we have listed our top tips for raising awareness below:

1. Baking
Getting creative in the kitchen is a delicious way to raise awareness, and is something that will work for any organisation as it is rare to find somebody who is not a fan of cake, biscuits, or a tray bake. If sugar craft is not your forte, the FSC logo is easy to create when you have a green icing pen!
2. Create a Display
Displays can be created in a number of different ways depending on the organisation you are involved with. For schools, social groups or guiding organisations, asking students or members to make a display showcasing the work that the FSC does can be a fantastic way to raise awareness for the importance of responsible forest management. If you work for a business that would like to educate staff or customers, this can be a fantastic opportunity to showcase FSC certified products and use them as a tool to communicate to people the importance of sustainable and responsibly forestry.
3. Visit an FSC Forest
What could be better than celebrating FSC Friday in an FSC certified forest? Find your local FSC forest and plan your visit today!
4. Go Green
Asking staff, pupils or members to wear an item of green clothing for FSC Friday is an easy way to get everybody involved. You could also consider asking for donations that can be contributed towards local tree-planting or forestry charities.

These are just a few ways that you can raise awareness for FSC certified items. Sourcing the timbers we use in a sustainable and responsible manner is important to us, and you can learn more about our dedication to this on our environmental policy page.
