Bridging and Bi-Fold Cabinets for Solid Oak Kitchens
Creating perfect solid oak kitchens requires more than just our excellent quality base and wall cabinets with a worktop thrown in for good measure.
Maximising storage and cleverly using the space available will afford you a much more usable kitchen, whilst creating a space that achieves the seamlessly integrated ‘bespoke’ look.
Bridging Cabinets
Our bridging kitchen wall cabinets are perfect for positioning above a sink or a cooker, where additional headroom is required above the appliance or worktop surface. These slim cabinets are available in heights of either 290mm or 360mm, and can be supplied with or without frontals, providing handy extra storage that makes clever use of wall space.
Doors for bridging cabinets are supplied with specialist Blum™ BLUMOTION™ mechanisms that allow the door to be propped open when required, whilst also incorporating soft-close hinges for a smooth closing action.
If you would prefer to leave them open, our 360mm bridging cabinets are perfect for accommodating solid oak plate racks, with space leftover for a small shelf above them. This creates an innately traditional look that adds great character to country kitchens.
Installation
Bridging cabinets are easily installed using the same special mounting system as our other wall cabinets. Each cabinet comes with a metal bracket that is first securely attached to the wall with two screws; the cabinet then hooks onto these brackets, with a mechanism that can then be tightened to hold the cabinet firmly in position.
Wall Cabinets with Bi-Fold Frontals
For kitchens that are short on space, our bi-fold cabinet frontals are the perfect solution. Rather than opening outwards like our standard doors, our bi-fold wood kitchen doors split in the middle and open upwards using special Blum™ BLUMOTION™ hinges.
A specialist mechanism holds the door open to provide easy access to the cabinet, whilst the built in soft-close mechanism ensures it won’t slam shut, damaging the cabinet – or any fingers that might be in the way!
Bi-fold frontals are available to suit our comprehensive selection of standard cabinet sizes, between 570mm and 720mm high, and up to 1000mm wide.
Even if you have plenty of room in your kitchen, a bi-fold door is an interesting alternative to standard doors and can provide a unique feature.
Installation
Installing bi-fold doors is relatively straight forward as the soft-close mechanism is self-contained and only requires positioning correctly on the inside of the cabinet, with an arm that attaches to the upper of the two bi-fold doors.
These two bi-fold doors are attached together using the same Blum™ hinges that are used for our standard cabinet doors, meaning they can easily be removed should they require cleaning or re-painting.
At Solid Wood Kitchen Cabinets we offer a wealth of unique solid oak cabinets and frontals along with a range of hardwood worktops to create a kitchen to fit your needs.
