It is easy to give solid wood kitchens a fresh lease of life simply by updating the wooden cabinet frontals. The appearance of replacement kitchen cabinet doors can make a dramatic difference to the impact of your kitchen; so – with that in mind – we are here to walk you through the wide range of options, to ensure that your makeover is simple and hassle-free.
Primarily, cabinet frontals are available in two different styles: Shaker or Traditional. Shaker-style doors are simple and elegant, and are fabricated from sturdy, 20mm-thick oak with a 6mm-thick central panel. Alternatively, we offer the farmhouse-style Traditional door; full of classic charm, these doors are also manufactured to a substantial thickness (22mm-thick solid oak with a 6mm-thick central panel).
Additionally, both styles of these replacement kitchen cabinet doors are available with glazed and unglazed options, so customers can opt for glass panes rather than the central wooden panel. In this configuration, Shaker frontals come with one large pane of frosted glass, whereas the Traditional doors come with either four or six panes of tinted glass (dependent on door dimensions).
FINISHES FOR FRONTALS
All our cabinet frontals can be provided in a variety of finishes. For a natural look, wooden doors can be given a coat of hard-wearing lacquer, which protects the surface whilst showing off the beautiful grain pattern. This is the same lacquer we use for our cabinet carcasses, so if you have already purchased from Solid Wood Kitchen Cabinets®, the door will blend in perfectly.
Another option is a painted finish. To offer a wide range of shades to suit any home, we supply painted frontals in any colour from Farrow & Ball’s extensive range. From pretty pastels to bold bright accents, there are plenty to choose from! All painted frontals are first given a coat of water-based primer, before the addition of two top coats, creating a smooth and even sheen.
Alternatively, if you would prefer to add a finish to your replacement kitchen cabinet doors yourself, you can order cabinets with a simple, sanded surface to style to your preference.
ORDER A SAMPLE
To truly appreciate the A-grade timber and high quality finish of our solid wood cabinet frontals, they really need to be seen in person! This is why we introduced our frontal sample service, through which you can order a miniature replica cabinet door in your preferred finish, and we will deliver it straight to your chosen address. Delivery is free of charge, and samples cost just £20 each. We are certain we will not be surpassed when it comes to quality, so when you decide to place an order with us, we will even discount the cost of your sample against the replacement kitchen cabinet doors you order.
Handles and knobs are the finishing touch for cabinetry. With a broad selection of designs to choose from, this is a frontal accessory that plays a key part in conveying your kitchen style. Our collection offers a variety of metal finishes, from polished nickel to cast iron to stainless steel, as well as a choice of ceramic and wooden options.
Our solid wood, vintage brass or ceramic knobs are a splendid selection for a traditional kitchen, or our nickel-plated steel bar handles and brass cup handles with a polished nickel finish are a marvellous match for a modern design.
CHOOSING YOUR HINGES
Finally: you are ready to hang your new replacement kitchen cabinet doors! You may already have hinges from your existing cupboard doors, however – if you would like replacements or require new ones – we would recommend our quality Blum™ BLUMOTION™ hinges, which come with a soft-close mechanism, for quiet and effortless opening and closing.
These hinges are available with either a standard 110° opening range, or in a 155° option ideal for cabinets containing wirework or internal drawers. To discover more about installing our cabinet frontals, we highly recommend reading our ‘How to Choose and Install Cabinet Doors’ information guide.
