“Do you have any kitchen floor plans I could use?” Question of the Week 09.04.17
“Do you have any kitchen floor plans I could use?”
This week’s question has been sent in from a potential customer who is currently designing his kitchen. Jeremy – who lives in Bangor, Wales – would like some help putting together his kitchen floor plans
QUESTION:
“I’m doing a lot of the work for my new kitchen myself but I am inexperienced – do you have any kitchen floor plans available for me to use?”
ANSWER:
Hi Jeremy,
Thank you for getting in touch with us. Kitchen floor plans are a vital part of the planning process and it is important that you get your own plan right; not only will this allow you to check that everything fits, but also that the new layout is practical for your requirements.
We do not currently have any kitchen floor plans that we can provide, but we have written a number of guides that will help you create your own. We would recommend using graph paper when composing your diagram as this will help you create drawings to the correct scale (customers have also been known to cut out small shapes to represent cupboards, cabinets and white goods, which can then be moved easily around the ‘room’ drawing to test out different designs).
You may have seen information about kitchen work triangles when doing research, and it is important to think about this principle when making your plans. Using the triangle layout concept when drawing up your kitchen floor plans simply means ensuring the paths between your sink, hob and fridge are free from obstructions. It has been used by kitchen designers for over 70 years and as of yet there are no plans to update this tried-and-tested method!
Our information guides are full of useful tips whatever stage you’re at with your new kitchen, though we think that our guides on kitchen measurements and positioning will be particularly helpful. We have also written about common kitchen layouts and created a more general design guide that might prove valuable when drawing up your kitchen floor plans.
We hope this has given you some points to consider throughout the planning the process. Please let us know if there is anything else we can assist with – if not, good luck with your new kitchen!
Kind regards,
The Team @ Solid Wood Kitchen Cabinets
