“Will I need to take my worktop out to fit new kitchen cabinets, even if I’m keeping it?” Question of the Week 02.04.17
“Will I need to take my worktop out to fit new kitchen cabinets, even if I’m keeping it?”
This week we were pleased to hear from Tracey in Bracknell, who got in touch to enquire about replacing her cabinets. She wondered if it would be possible to keep her existing worktops in place during the process.
“I’m having new kitchen cabinets from you but I want to keep my old worktop – will it need removing before I fit the cabinets or can I keep it in place?”
Thank you for sending your question in. If you don’t need to replace your worktops, installing new cabinets is a great way to save costs when revamping your kitchen.
Unfortunately you will not be able to leave your existing worktop in place whilst you put in new kitchen cabinets. Before you start taking the old kitchen out, you will need to remove all appliances and make sure the electricity, gas and water are switched off. The worktop will need to come out so that the old cabinets can be dismantled. If you are going to reuse your worktop, taking it out will prevent the material from being damaged whilst new cabinets are installed.
We would love to see the kitchen when you have put your new cabinets in, so please feel free to send us some pictures on Facebook or Instagram. In the meantime, if you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to contact us again.
