New Kitchen Designs for 2018: Our Guide to the Latest Trends
Whilst we are not in 2018 yet, the new year is rapidly approaching. We are frequently asked which trends are popular for new kitchen designs, so we have taken this opportunity to compile our predictions for the coming 12 months. Planning your new solid oak kitchen as early as possible allows you the time to consider every aspect of the design, from colour combinations to the layout of your kitchen triangle.
Integrated Spaces
Open plan and broken plan kitchens have been popular over the last year, and more and more people are looking to incorporate dining – or at least seating – space into new kitchen designs. This trend looks set to continue into 2018 as more homes and families look to create spaces within the home that are functional and allow residents to spend time together whilst absorbed in separate activities.
Bold Colours
We recently wrote about kitchen colour predictions for 2018 on our blog and as we suggested there, the popularity of bold, dark shades does not look to be waning. For those looking to something a little subtler, grey is a prevalent choice – although, in 2018, grey shades are set to be less of a neutral choice. Dark charcoal grey hues like Farrow & Ball’s Railings or Down Pipe are gaining in use whilst paler hues with strong undertones, like blue grey Skylight or pink grey Peignoir make a more interesting option than flat grey shades.
Accessories
Selecting the colour and finish of your accessories is an important part of any new kitchen design. Whilst it is important to select a sink and taps that will be practical for your home, it is also worth considering the aesthetic impact they will have in the heart of your home. Ensuring cabinet hardware matches your taps and light fittings is a great way to create a cohesive kitchen look. Copper and brass options have been everywhere throughout 2017 and for 2018, gold has been hotly tipped to be the metal of choice for an opulent look in any home.
