Get a New Look With These Easy Kitchen Upgrades
A complete kitchen overhaul is a time-consuming task that can create a chaotic atmosphere in your home, as it often renders the most used room in the house unusable. Fortunately, there are a variety of kitchen upgrades that can be done to instantly revamp a dated kitchen and breathe new life into the heart of your home. We have compiled several of our favourite quick updates in this guide to help you easily rejuvenate your kitchen, no matter how much time or money you have at your disposal.
Handles, Knobs or Pulls
Changing the kitchen cabinet door handles is one of the best kitchen upgrades if you have a small budget to work with or if you are short on time. Choosing different handles or knobs for your kitchen can have a huge impact on the overall look of the room. When selecting a new colour or material to introduce into your kitchen, having other items in the same shade or medium can help it blend more seamlessly into the room. If your new cabinet hardware does not match anything else in the kitchen, consider adding hints elsewhere – in tea towels, cooking utensils that are kept on display or with other accessories, like plant pots or rugs.
Colours
There are a number of ways in which kitchen colours can be changed to create a new look. Repainting walls in a new shade may not seem like it will make a difference, but it can have a big impact on your kitchen. Solid wood cabinet doors can be painted – we use Farrow & Ball for ours, and there are specialist paints available for melamine if this is what you have. Adding or updating kitchen splashbacks or tiles is a fantastic and relatively simple kitchen upgrade. Whilst tiling can be a time consuming task, there are paints and tile ‘stickers’ that exist to simply cover the existing tiles rather than replacing. When planning colours, think about the light sources in the room and also consider the current shades used – if you have black cabinets that you want to paint white, it may take a few extra coats.
Accessories
There are a number of accessories that will often be on display in a kitchen, and changing these can give a completely new feel to the heart of your home. We wrote about using colourful accessories to liven up white cabinets but there are a variety of ways in which you can do this. Using accessories to alter the look of a kitchen is a great option if you are short on time – it is also something that can be done to suit your budget.
These are just a few of the options available to create a new look with some easy kitchen upgrades.
