SOLID WOOD KITCHEN CABINETS BLOG

Glazed to Perfection

Posted by admin on November 30, 2012 at 10:47 am. Filed under: Products

We’re big fans of customisation – particularly when it comes to door frontals – as the size of the Solid Wood Kitchen Cabinets collection might well indicate. Our solid oak doors are so fabulous that little adornment is needed; however, we like variety! As a result, when the range was originally launched it incorporated two door styles (Shaker or Traditional) with three finishes: sanded, lacquered, or handpainted.

Now we’ve added another option to the mix: the glazed frontal. Available in both our house styles with the same selection of finishes (plus complementary glazing – frosted or tinted – dependent on door type), the integration of glass and solid oak brings a dazzling extra dimension to the cabinet. Moreover, we use only the highest-quality glass, which is manufactured and toughened solely in Europe (to a BS 6206 CL-A rating – the highest rating for durability and safety).

The range of options on offer means that glazed frontals can be incorporated seamlessly into your existing cabinet run; or, if you’d prefer a full revamp, there are plenty of new frontals to choose from. Check out our frontals page for more information – and add some winter sparkle to your kitchen today!

Glazed doors. Please note all glazed doors shown are width 500.

Solid Wood Kitchen Cabinets on the Small Screen!

Posted by admin on November 27, 2012 at 3:13 pm. Filed under: General

Hello cabinet fans! Only us – just thought we’d let you know of an exciting Solid Wood Kitchen Cabinets appearance on the telly-box this evening.

Channel 4

You may be familiar with the brilliant show George Clarke’s Amazing Spaces, which offers insight into creative solutions for small spaces – a great watch whether you are a design-fiend or not! We’re big fans of the programme and so when we were approached by one of the upcoming subjects, Andy Stobart – who was in the process of renovating his canal boat – we were thrilled to help. With our contributions the canal boat has apparently been transformed into the ‘ultimate bachelor pad’.

So, to see our shaker lacquered cabinet frontals, bespoke oven housing unit and black walnut worktops (care of sister supplier, Worktop Express®) in action, please tune in to Channel 4 tonight at 8pm.

Bravo, Belfast!

Posted by admin on November 1, 2012 at 4:21 pm. Filed under: Products

As time marches on appliances and fittings grow ever more sophisticated, each competing to be ‘cutting-edge’; but if you’re looking to breathe new life into your kitchen you may find that a classic model will prove most effective.

The Belfast sink is one such option. Its trademark bowl functions as both a brilliantly practical washing-up space – even more useful in modern times when dishwashers can take care of day-to-day receptacles but a spacious sink is invaluable for those difficult-to-wash or fragile items – and an attractive feature.

Where the term ‘Belfast’ stems from, theories abound; some argue that the answer lies in the overflow (Belfast sinks originally had a Weir overflow built in as water was plentiful in the city so there was no problem with wastage, whereas London sinks had no overflow due to scarcity of water), some in the lining – but there’s no doubt that a stunning Belfast sink will never go out of style.

Our solid oak sink cabinets offer the perfect accommodation for a range of Belfast sinks, and due to demand we’ve augmented the collection with some additional sizes to offer more choice than ever before. The 600mm wide Belfast sink cabinet is ideal for a standard sink (no more than 595mm wide) with a bowl height of up to 270mm, but we now also stock cabinets in widths from 800mm up to 1200mm.

So whether your sink is big or small, find it a perfect partner by choosing a fantastic cabinet from our extended range! And don’t worry if you’re not sure which cabinet to go for: our friendly sales team are on hand – simply give us a call or send an email and we’ll be happy to answer any queries that you might have.
