Win a NEW iPhone 6 with Solid Wood Kitchen Cabinets!

Whenever we have the opportunity to give back to our customers, we seize it: and this time around, we’re giving away a brand new iPhone 6 worth £539! All we ask in return is for customers to share some pictures of their wood kitchens, solid oak kitchen cabinets or any of the other products we sell.

To win this in-demand and cutting-edge new smartphone (which will be unlocked, ready to use and comes with 16GB of storage), all you need to do is like our Facebook page and then share one of your photographs of our products on our wall. Once you have shared the picture, try and get as many likes as possible on it in order to win. The photograph with the most likes by 4pm on October 20th will be crowned the winner!

To give yourself a head start, be sure to like your posted photograph yourself, and then ask friends and relatives to do the same. You can even tag Facebook friends in the photo to spread the image far and wide – that way you will have the biggest chance of getting as many likes as you can.

If you haven’t yet ordered with Solid Wood Kitchen Cabinets, there’s still plenty of time to enter, and if you’re already happy with your wooden kitchen, why not take a look at one of our fantastic kitchen accessories? Accessorise Solid Oak Kitchens with Our New Plate Racks

Accessorise Solid Oak Kitchens with Our New Plate Racks

Our oak wall cabinets look great with or without a frontal, but if you are happy to have your finest dinnerware on display for everyone to see, then why not show them off with the help of our stylish plate racks?

These items are the latest addition to our collection of accessories for solid oak kitchens, and are the perfect way to display your best crockery in a hygienic and convenient manner. We offer them in a range of finishes – naturally sanded, lacquered or painted in a Farrow & Ball colour of your choice – allowing you to create a storage solution that is an attractive feature in its own right.

The racks are provided in pre-built sections measuring 1200 x 342mm, and as such can easily house 24 full-size dinner plates. For narrower cupboards, the racks can be cut down to size to accommodate almost any cabinet width, though we do recommend fitting the racks at the front and rear of the cabinet to securely hold your plates in place (so do be sure to order enough to fit twice the cabinet’s width). Should you prefer your rack to be fitted inside a closed cabinet, this also possible, but do take care to leave a gap between the sides of the cabinet and the first/last vertical spoke (in order to accommodate the door hinge).

Our solid oak plate racks start at just £50 for a sanded finish, so why not consider them for your kitchen? For all the options available, head to our solid wood oak plate racks page.

Solid Wood Kitchens in Pigeon: September’s Colour of the Month

September’s Colour of the Month: Pigeon

Grey is most definitely the ‘in’ colour this year. We looked at this in further detail in our ‘Kitchen Colour Ideas for 2014’ guide last month. It should come as little surprise, then, that when we decided to pick this month’s favoured colour for solid wood kitchens, we chose one of Farrow & Ball’s (not quite fifty) shades of grey: Pigeon.

Joking aside, there’s around twenty widely varying shades of grey in Farrow & Ball’s collection, and Pigeon sits somewhere between the blue undertones of Plummett and the lilac hues of Elephant’s Breath©. It has hints of green in warmer light, but looks like a true grey in the cool tones of natural winter rays or when under modern LED lighting.

We’ve placed Farrow & Ball’s Pigeon into our ‘Accents’ collection alongside Parma Gray and Hardwick White, which means it’s an ideal colour to pair with a lighter shade of white from our variety of ‘Pastels’. It also combines well with darker wooden kitchen worktops such as the exotic tones of our walnut, iroko or wenge, and is the perfect finish for our Shaker-style cabinet doors and drawer fronts.

If you’d like to witness the stunning grey-green tones of Pigeon in the ‘flesh’, we offer pre-painted kitchen samples in the form of miniature painted cabinet doors. They’re available for only £20 including delivery and are perfect for helping you decide on the ideal colour scheme for your space, whilst sampling the quality of our oak doors.

Alternatively, take a trip to our Gloucester showroom where you’ll find samples of all the colours in our range, along with nine themed kitchens that show off the inimitable quality of Farrow & Ball’s natural paints.

September’s Gadget of the Month

Gadget of the Month -Panasonic SD-ZB2502BXC Bread maker

With the arrival of this year’s BBC Great British Bake Off, bakery has once again taken the country by storm in a tidal wave of pastry politics, brawling bakers and doughy disputes. Whilst some of the contestants may make it appear like baking the perfect loaf of bread is relatively straight forward, in the real world it can take considerable time and effort to become a bestselling baker.

Our ‘Gadget of the Month’ for September is a piece of technology that helps those of us who are short on time (and in some cases patience!) produce the most beautiful loaves of fresh bread.

Panasonic were the first company to bring a consumer bread maker to the market, and they’re generally rated as the best around by those in the know. Their top-end model, the SD-ZB2502BXC is a fully-featured breadmaker that has 11 settings, including special modes for gluten-free and dough-only modes for making pizza bases and other treats.

It can also make three different sizes of loaf and is complete with a 13-hour delay timer, enabling you to mix ingredients the night before and wake up to the gorgeous smells of freshly-cooked bread. There’s also a raisin and nut dispenser and a yeast dispenser to allow you to automatically add ingredients so that the machine can be left to bake without the need for interruption.

The snappily-named SD-ZB2502BXC is available from a variety of high-street retailers for around £139.99, complete with measuring cups, breadpan, rye mode kneader and recipe book.

If you’re the proud new owner of a bread maker or any other gadget that is making life in oak kitchens that bit easier, we’d love to hear more about it. Just get in touch on Facebook, Twitter or Google +.
