Colours of the Month: A touch of colour to liven up solid oak kitchens

Posted by admin on March 30, 2016 at 4:33 pm. Filed under: General

Spring is in the air, signifying rejuvenation and vitality: the perfect time to spruce up solid oak kitchens! In our opinion, a lick of paint can work wonders; and, with this in mind, we would like to share our top three colour picks for this month – from our paint manufacturers of choice, Farrow & Ball – all of which are ideal for adding a tasteful injection of colour into sombre winter palettes.

Brassica has always been a firm favourite of ours. Whether it’s used on cabinetry, walls or your front door, the tones of this colour seem to respond significantly under varying lights. In a more shadowy setting, Brassica can take on a deep plum tone, or appear nearly grey; however when flooded with natural light it assumes an almost lilac tint. For kitchens, we recommend teaming this shade with white, so it always looks bright and fresh, and using alongside pale worktops such as ash or bamboo.

Our second ‘Colour of the Month’ is Stone Blue. Again this shade is happily matched with white for a supremely clean-cut aesthetic, but alternatively looks wonderful paired with Brassica, or a mid-grey such as Plummett. This colour has a regal quality, and looks even more stunning in kitchens with higher ceilings; ultimately, however, it is a warm blue that for some reason feels fantastically familiar in any home. Pair Stone Blue with timber worktops that have a golden hue, such as traditional oak, caramel bamboo or deluxe walnut for a truly spectacular finish.

Colour of the month: Brassica solid oak kitchens.
Colour of the month: Stone Blue solid oak kitchens.
Colour of the month: Arsenic solid oak kitchens.

Finally, we added a fabulous splash of Arsenic into the mix. This zingy colour seems a little quirky – we can’t deny it reminds us a of a tropical ice pop (roll on summer!) – but is surprisingly versatile. Indeed, Arsenic looks undeniably dashing alongside Pitch Blue, and is a perfect companion for either light or dark timber, including maple or black oak worktops.

If you would like to see how these colours – or any other shades from Farrow & Ball – would fit into your kitchen colour scheme, you can order one of our painted cabinet frontal samples. Our door samples are miniature replicas of our full-size cabinet frontals, and provide a convenient way by which you might try out colours in the comfort of your own home – whilst demonstrating the high-quality finish synonymous with our brand.

Bring Spring Into Your Home With Solid Oak Kitchen Cabinets

Posted by admin on March 2, 2016 at 4:38 pm. Filed under: General

With spring just around the corner, you might be tempted to reflect the rejuvenation of the new season with a fresh kitchen update – and we say: ‘Do it’! Our solid oak kitchen cabinets come in a broad range of finishes to suit all interior styles, and our collection of cabinet frontals may be the perfect way to welcome in the warmer, brighter weather.

Spring Kitchen #1

The upbeat tones of Farrow & Ball’s pretty Blue Ground are a great first step for adding a dose of vitality to kitchens. Teamed with this playful colour, the stylish full stave oak worktops ensure that the kitchen feels sophisticated yet welcoming. Wood worktops that are lighter in colour are an ideal choice for giving the room a lift, and are immensely versatile in style.

These solid oak shaker cabinets also benefit from sleek, stainless steel handles, which reflect light and imbue a bright, fresh, and modern feel.

Spring Kitchen #2

The Deluxe Prime Oak worktops in this spring kitchen are comprised of luxurious 90mm wide staves, which are full of natural character and consistent colouring. Paired with contrasting tiling, this design has plenty of personality, and exudes a wholesomeness that makes kitchens like this a popular place to gather for spring-time soirées.

These cabinet frontals are painted in New White by Farrow & Ball, a fresh and crisp shade that acts as a great central colour, unifying all elements of the kitchen.

Spring Kitchen #3

Pretty pastels work wonderfully on solid oak kitchen cabinets. This particular shade – Lulworth Blue, by Farrow & Ball – contrasts beautifully with the full stave prime oak worktops. Blue is a cool colour, which consequently creates a sense of space and makes this kitchen feel extra light, airy and peaceful – a perfect addition to your spring palette.

If you prefer more neutral colours for your cabinetry, another great idea is to paint inside the cupboards instead! This allows you to integrate splashes of colour without it dominating your kitchen. This is ideal for cabinets with glazed frontals and is a fabulous way of displaying crockery decoratively.

Flowers to Finish

For a finishing flourish, we recommend introducing fresh flowers. Popular seasonal flowers like daffodils are abundant at this time of year, and make a fabulous floral centre-piece for kitchen islands.

If you would like to request a sample of any of our cabinet doors, these are available as miniatures, and can be painted in the Farrow & Ball colour of your choice. Get in touch by emailing us at , or by calling our knowledgeable sales team on 0345 22 22 990, and discover the high quality and superior finish of our products first-hand prior to placing your order. Samples cost just £20, which can be discounted from your total when you place an order with us! Alternatively, you may wish to visit one of our showrooms, where one of our friendly sales advisers would be pleased to show you around.
