The Online Ordering Process

If you don't feel entirely comfortable ordering products online, rest assured that we go through great lengths to ensure that the ordering process is as simple as possible whilst being extremely secure.

We use security systems from Geotrust that includes 256-bit encryption on all confidential information processed on our servers. We also use a two layer TLS (Transport layer security) protocol to keep all of your data safe when in transit from your own computer to ours.

We've gone through great lengths to make ordering online as quick and easy as possible. To start, simply add your chosen items to the basket and follow the instructions given, which will then lead you through the online ordering process. Once you're ready to make a payment, SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) protection will keep your payment details private whilst in transit between yourself and the payment authorisation servers. When your order is completed, your card details are destroyed in an irretrievable and untraceable way.

On placing an order with Solid Wood Kitchen Cabinets (, this constitutes an offer to buy goods and you are agreeing to our terms of sale. When we have received your order, we will then follow this up with an acknowledgement of the order via email, followed by a confirmation that we have agreed to accept the order once pricing and availability of the goods has been verified. At this point a contract is made between the 'customer' and ''. The production and assembly process will then begin, therefore any changes or amendments can only be made within a period of one working day from this date. Once the order has been dispatched, an invoice will be sent via email.

All items will be charged to you at the price displayed on our product pages at the time of purchase. Although we try our hardest to ensure pricing is always 100% accurate, errors and omissions are excepted. In the unlikely event that any prices unexpectedly change, we will contact you and confirm whether you wish to proceed. Prices displayed are inclusive of VAT.

In instances when promotions are advertised and an end date for a sale is stated - either online or via another medium - this date is not explicit. We reserve the right to make an extension at our discretion.

Once the goods are delivered and signed for, the risk in the goods then passes to the consumer, with the title passing to the customer upon receipt of payment in full and cleared funds.

The Consumer Rights Act 2015 stipulate that customers who are consumers (i.e. any individuals ordering for private use rather than the course of trade) have the right to return standard goods that have not been subject to any additional services (such as pre-oiling).

Goods that have been subject to any bespoke work by may not be returned, including (but not exclusively) our fabrication services and the hand-finished service for all items (this applies to all painted items - such as doors - whether the colour chosen is one of the standard or bespoke shades; all painted products are individually selected, batch matched and then painted to order). Additionally, goods that have been ordered via our pre-assembly service may not be returned, as all carcasses are built to order.

As stated in the Consumer Rights Act 2015, any consumer is able to cancel the purchase contract for the item(s) ordered within fourteen calendar days. This fourteen day period commences on the day after the day on which the item(s) are delivered.

Customer returns must be agreed in writing or by electronic mail by both parties before the goods are returned. Any refunds for returned items will be processed within 14 days (from notice of cancellation, or in the case where goods are to be returned, within 14 days of receipt of the goods in suitable condition). If you decide to return the items to us, the goods must be insured whilst in transit for the full value.

All cancellation requests must be made within a 14 calendar day timeframe. Customer returns must be agreed by both parties before the goods are returned to us. The customer has responsibility for ensuring that the cancellation request has reached Solid Wood Kitchen Cabinets. If no confirmation of receipt has been made, he/she must contact Solid Wood Kitchen Cabinets immediately.

Once the request of cancellation has been received and agreed, Solid Wood Kitchen Cabinets will then arrange to collect all items in the order and give a full refund. The customer is responsible for any collection costs that are incurred, except in the instances where supplied good are deemed to be faulty, or if the goods have been mis-sold or supplied in error. As stipulated in the Consumer Rights Act 2015, the customer is granted thirty days to request a full refund if his/her goods are faulty.

Unless otherwise stated, the collection charge will be a minimum of £50, and this will be confirmed to you by Solid Wood Kitchen Cabinets when arranging collection. Solid Wood Kitchen Cabinets are under no obligation to offer a collection service in the instance of an order being cancelled. Under no circumstances will these collection fees be waived.

Alternatively, the customer may decide to arrange transportation of the goods independently at his/her own cost. In this instance the customer is responsible for all costs that may be incurred when transporting the goods back to the address specified by Solid Wood Kitchen Cabinets. We reserve the right to recover any amount, up to the full contract price, in cases where the value of the returned goods has been diminished as a result of unreasonable care.

When purchasing goods from that are subject to bespoke works, the consumer may cancel the contract within one working day of placing the order. After this point, the consumer waives the right to cancel the contract. These goods include (but are not limited to) those that are fabricated, pre-assembled, painted, or finished by hand.

The aforementioned right of cancellation applies strictly to consumers and not to anybody ordering goods in the course of a business or trade.

To make a cancellation, please use the text suggested in the 'model cancellation' form below:

Terms of Delivery

Solid Wood Kitchen Cabinets offer a range of delivery propositions, but we're particularly proud of our in-house delivery service which is recommended to all customers. Terms and conditions of each type of courier service are listed below:

Our two man service

This service is made by our own two man team who will carry the goods to a ground floor room of the customer's choosing. The customer will be given a two hour timeslot, but in the event of circumstances outside of our control that may delay the delivery, we cannot accept responsibility.

It is very important that the customer ensures there is a clear passageway from the entrance of the property to the ground floor room of the customer's choosing. The delivery team must be able to transport the goods to your specified location without being obstructed, though it is the customer's responsibility to ensure obstructions are moved.

If there are any obstructions that cannot be moved then it is the customer's responsibility to ensure that there is an alternative place nearby to safely leave the goods. The customer should also note that the delivery drivers will be carrying worktops into the property from an outside location and cannot remove their shoes on entrance (due to health and safety reasons). As such, if there are floorings or carpets that need to be protected, it is the customer's responsibility to provide and lay suitable coverings prior to the delivery team's arrival. If the thoroughfare is not clear or sufficiently covered and consequently the customer's property or any possessions (including floorings or furnishings) are damaged, Solid Wood Kitchen Cabinets cannot accept any responsibility. In the unlikely event that damage is caused during delivery, the customer must inform Solid Wood Kitchen Cabinets in writing via electronic mail within two working days.

All goods must be inspected by the customer at the point of delivery with the delivery team present, with any loss or damage clearly recorded on the delivery note. In the unfortunate event that there is any damage to your goods, confirmation must be sent in writing to Solid Wood Kitchen Cabinets within two working days of receipt. Any claim for loss or damage cannot be made after this time, or if the guidelines are not adhered to. We also recommend that customers check the entirety of the contents within the packaging once received; in the unlikely event that items are missing, please report this to us within seven days of delivery.

The delivery note must be signed on receipt of the goods. This item is a legal document which constitutes the only admissible proof that delivery has been made to you without any loss or damage. Once signed, responsibility for the goods transfers to the customer and thus any subsequent loss, destruction of, or damage to the goods.

If the customer is not present at the property on the scheduled delivery date, and delivery is therefore unsuccessful, the customer will then be liable for all charges or fees incurred in returning or redelivering the goods. Please note, if the customer has benefited from a 'Free Delivery' promotion, only the first delivery attempt is applicable, and subsequent delivery attempts will be charged at the full rate.

External two man courier service

If this service is chosen, customers will receive a phone call at least 48 hours prior to the delivery to confirm details including the am/pm window. Within this timeframe a 2-3 hour time slot will be given, but as with our own service, this should only be used as a guidance. Should the delivery arrive outside of this timeslot due to circumstances outside of our control, Solid Wood Kitchen Cabinets cannot be held responsible.

The courier will make three separate attempts to contact the customer and arrange delivery. If all attempts are unsuccessful, the customer must then make contact directly with the courier. If this does not occur within 21 days, the goods will be returned to Solid Wood Kitchen Cabinets. The customer must then contact Solid Wood Kitchen Cabinets to re-arrange delivery, which will incur a further charge. We cannot be held responsible for any delays or charges that may arise from such changes in circumstance.

As with our own service, the courier will attempt to deliver the goods to the customer's room of choice. This is subject to a site survey by the team, where they will assess the potential and suitability of the room and access to it.

If it is possible to place the item in the room of choice, the customer will then be asked to sign the necessary disclaimer. If not signed, then the delivery will only be made to the doorstep. In instances where the team deems the chosen room to be unsafe, or simply not possible without risking damage to the goods, the delivery team will ask for an alternative room choice.

All goods must be inspected whilst in the presence of the delivery driver, and any loss or damage must be recorded clearly on the delivery note. If there is any damage at the point of delivery, confirmation must be sent via email to us within two working days of receipt. Claims made after this time, or if the guidelines are not adhered to, will not be accepted. Once the delivery note has been signed, responsibility for the goods transfers to the customer and thus any subsequent loss, destruction of, or damage to the goods.

External Courier Service

Where our in-house service is unable to deliver to your area, this external courier service will be offered as an alternative. As a one man service, it is essential that someone competent and prepared to safely handle the goods is present at the property to help the driver off-load the goods. If the customer themselves are not capable of assisting, it is the customer's responsibility to ensure that someone else is. Some of the goods we offer can be extremely heavy, and so it is therefore the responsibility of the customer to ensure that whoever will assist the driver is of able body to assist them. We cannot be held liable for any injury to persons unloading the delivery, unless due to our own negligence.

For health and safety reasons, this delivery service can only be made to the nearest ground floor point of access. If a special request is made directly to a member of the Solid Wood Kitchen Cabinets team, they can occasionally be accommodated, though please allow for plenty of time for us to be able to assist in helping fulfil your requirements.

All goods must be inspected at the point of the delivery in the presence of the delivery driver, and any loss or damage clearly recorded on the corresponding delivery note. If there is any damage, confirmation must be sent in writing via electronic mail to Solid Wood Kitchen Cabinets within two working days of receipt. Claims for loss or damage cannot be handled after this time, or if the guidelines are not adhered to. Once the delivery note has been signed by the customer, responsibility of the goods transfers to them, as does any subsequent loss, destruction of, or damage to the goods.

Accessory Delivery Service

Delivery of any accessories and medium-sized items are made by a one man external courier service with a variety of timeslots available for the customer to choose from.

With all goods delivered using this method, someone must be present at the property during the allocated time slot to receive the delivery. If the delivery is unsuccessful due to the customer not being present at the property on the scheduled date, the customer will then be liable for all charges or fees incurred in returning or storing the undelivered goods.

Delivery Date Changes

If you wish to change your delivery date following placement of an order, where delivery of any oak kitchens or cabinets are concerned we must be informed at least five working days prior to the original date of delivery. Due to production and logistic schedules, changes requested after this time cannot be accommodated. Once an order has been placed, delivery must be made to the customers' premises within 8 weeks or a weekly storage fee of no less than £9 will be charged. When final delivery dates are booked or where delivery date changes are made, we require 15 working days' notice before the end of the 8 week period to avoid storage costs being accrued. Where a delivery date is changed or cancelled within two working days of the pre-arranged original delivery date, a re-delivery fee equal to the standard delivery charge will apply.

For delivery of accessories or worktops, excluding fabrication, the final cut-off point for changes to delivery date is at 12:00 noon on the previous working day (i.e. 12:00 noon on Friday if the goods are due to be delivered on Monday).

It is the customer's responsibility to make contact with Solid Wood Kitchen Cabinets to rearrange delivery within the specified time period. This request must be made in writing via electronic mail unless unforeseen circumstances inhibit this. For a change to be considered successful, the customer must receive a confirmation that the request has been received by Solid Wood Kitchen Cabinets. Unless notified to specify otherwise, should the customer fail to receive confirmation of the new delivery date, they should assume that the original delivery date and timeslot still stands.

If the customer does not rearrange delivery with Solid Wood Kitchen Cabinets before the specified cut-off point, the customer will then be responsible for any charges or delays caused by unsuccessful delivery attempts.

On our website we make reference to delivery in a number of places. In instances where a figure is given concerning the number of orders that have been delivered, this may refer to the total number of orders delivered by the limited company (rather than the brand itself).

Fabrication Service

Contracts that involve any bespoke fabrication services cannot be cancelled.

If a customer is planning on making use of our fabrication service, one of our trained fabrication specialists will compose a formal quotation outlining the proposed fabrication. Once this quote has been accepted and confirmed by the customer, an order can be placed and payment processed. Once payment has been processed, the customer accepts our terms of sale and a contract is created between the customer and Solid Wood Kitchen Cabinets.

The customer's requirements will have been discussed and agreed, and a diagram created accordingly. This will then be sent to the customer via email for verification. In the case of worktops, they will be prepared, but no machining will be completed until the customer responds to confirm the specifications and suitability of the diagram. At this point the customer accepts full responsibility for ensuring that the dimensions and materials indicated within the quote are correct for the intended use. We cannot accept liability if any information contained within the diagram is found to be incorrect after the customer confirmation has been received.

Fabrication lead times quoted by Solid Wood Kitchen Cabinets will not commence until diagram confirmation is supplied by the customer. Should confirmation not be received within a reasonable time frame, Solid Wood Kitchen Cabinets reserve the right to delay delivery.

Although we cannot usually make changes to the order once the diagram has been confirmed by the customer, should an error be noticed after the cut-off point, the customer should make contact at the soonest possible time to discuss it. We will consider any amendment requests, but cannot guarantee that they will be accommodated.

Bespoke Order Cancellations

Once a contract has been created, bespoke cutting orders cannot be cancelled - even if the goods have not yet been dispatched. In certain circumstances we may allow for a cancellation, however this will only be considered if the raw materials have not yet been subject to any work. We make no guarantee to be able to consider such requests, though in the event of an agreed cancellation Solid Wood Kitchen Cabinets will refund the order in full, but reserve the right to charge an amount (minimum of £50), to compensate for aspects of the service that have already been undertaken. We reserve the right to withdraw an offer of bespoke order cancellation at any time.

Please also note that the consumer's statutory right of cancellation does not apply to orders that are hand finished, made to measure or in any way cut or altered to your requirements.

Bespoke Order Delivery

Solid Wood Kitchen Cabinets will make all reasonable endeavours to deliver any bespoke items within the time-frame quoted and agreed at the point of order. Please consider that due to the nature of the custom manufacturing process of any goods made to the customer's requirements, the lead time for bespoke items may be delayed slightly. Because of this, we recommend that customers allow an additional 28 days in the event of any unforeseen delays.

The extended lead time does not affect items altered through our fabrication service, and relates only to bespoke items.

Bespoke Order Returns

In the unlikely event that fabricated or bespoke goods are found not to have been produced to the agreed specification (subject to previously outlined conditions - See the 'Returns section), Solid Wood Kitchen Cabinets may need to collect the items in order to carry out repairs. Should this be necessary, the work will be completed as soon as is practical.

All fabrications are completed to a + / - 3millimetre tolerance.

At Solid Wood Kitchen Cabinets we make every effort to ensure we supply orders in a timely, accurate fashion. There are however rare occasions - due to matters outside of our control, such as extreme weather or poor handling - on which the order would not arrive in the intended condition or on the delivery date initially agreed. Because of this, we highly recommend leaving any fittings in their existing positions until all items have been received; we also advise that the hiring of trades is not actioned until the goods have arrived at their intended destination in a satisfactory condition, as verified by the customer.

We advise that all goods should be checked carefully on arrival, with any damage or other issues being reported immediately (please see the 'Cancellations' section for further information). Should any additional work such as cutting, oiling, or any process that alters the item from its original condition, this constitutes as acceptance of the products. Any defects or faults reported after the delivery note has been signed for, will be deemed to have been caused by the customer. In these circumstances Solid Wood Kitchen Cabinets cannot accept responsibility for any damage or fault caused by negligent installation or treatment (such as failure to follow our installation and aftercare guidance). In these instances, the customer bears all responsibility for such occurrences.

If an issue arises after a product has been received, please do not hesitate to contact Solid Wood Kitchen Cabinets directly straight away. We do not recommend trying to fix the problem yourself as we will be unable to accept a return of items if alterations have been made without first seeking our consent. Furthermore, if goods have been altered without prior consent this may invalidate the manufacturer's warranty.

Please note: we do not agree to contract terms dictating that 'time is of the essence'.

Payment can be made directly via credit card, debit card or Paypal. Cheques can be accepted if made payable to Direct Online Services for the full amount. The cheque must have the applicable order number clearly printed on the rear of the cheques; corresponding orders will not be booked for delivery until the cheque has cleared. Unfortunately we can only accept cash payments for orders totalling £500 or less (including any delivery costs).

Manufacturing tolerances

All solid wood staves are subject to a manufacturing tolerance of + / - 2mm, our full stave worktops can vary by + / - 10mm and the stave width of our deluxe workshop has a variance of + / - 5mm. Due to the manufacturing tolerances mentioned, some worktops may include one stave of a reduced width at one edge for us to be able to adhere to the advertised worktop width.

If worktops are to be joined end-to-end, or being matched to another worktop or previous purchase, we strongly advise that the customer informs us at the point of order. This is so we can make the best efforts to match the worktops as closely as possible.

All items are carefully inspected during the manufacturing process at a number of stages, paying particular attention to natural imperfections. Most imperfections are removed from the surface of our solid wood worktops at this stage, except those that are absolutely necessary to retain the character and / or integrity of the timber. We therefore deem small, natural imperfections acceptable, and by making a purchase, the customer agrees that minor shakes and small sound knots (which do not affect the performance of the worktop), are acceptable and do not constitute a fault or defect. Occasionally larger natural imperfections may be visible on the underside of the worktop. By purchasing, the customer agrees that these shall not constitute faults or defects as long as structural rigidity is not affected.

Our picking team will always attempt to colour-match multiple items on the same order. Wood being a natural material, we cannot always guarantee replication of colouration from piece to piece. Due to the organic nature of solid wood products we supply and discrepancies that may arise in the image reproduction process, we cannot guarantee the colour accuracy of certain goods.

Solid Wood Kitchen Cabinets employ extensive procedures to reduce the moisture content of the timber before manufacture. However, some gradual movement of the timber due to natural expansion or contraction cannot be prevented. In certain environments small cracks may appear after instillation (up to a few millimetres in width). The customer agrees by signing for the delivery, that this is an acceptable standard condition of the timber and so does not constitute as a fault or defect. Should any minor cracks appear after installation, they can be easily filled with wax filler, sanded back and re-oiled as necessary.

Stave widths, timber colours, length and appearance can vary from piece to piece. Any supplied imagery or sample products should therefore be treated as an approximate representation.

Installation and Maintenance

We provide considerable documentation regarding installation and maintenance, and therefore the customer agrees that any deviation from, or failure to adhere to these guidelines constitutes full acceptance of responsibility for any subsequent faults.

The Solid Wood Kitchen Cabinets installation / maintenance documents contain some important guidelines, including:

Advice on finishing: solid wood worktops and other unfinished wood should be treated with Rustins Danish Oil.

Overhang: the maximum unsupported overhang recommended for a 620mm wide worktop is 200mm. For larger worktops, please calculate the measurement on a pro-rata basis (i.e. a 960mm worktop is approximately 55% larger than a 620mm worktop, and thus the recommended maximum unsupported overhang is 110mm). If a larger overhang is required, please consult us. We may recommend the utilisation of one or more suitable support legs.

Should you wish to apply further coats of paint to your finished door as part of your maintenance programme, please note that we recommend utilising the Exterior Eggshell collection from Farrow & Ball. All references to Farrow & Ball paint on refer to this type of paint.

Solid Wood Kitchen Cabinets accepts no responsibility for any product issues that may arise if the products have been installed or maintained incorrectly, oiled too infrequently, or generally mishandled.

All goods that are supplied unfinished (sanded or otherwise), need to be treated with a suitable sealant prior to installation, otherwise warranty will be voided.

All worktops, doors, plinths and accessories are provided with a full 6 month manufacturer's warranty as standard. Solid wood kitchen carcases purchased from us come with a full 5 year manufacturer's warranty.

In the unlikely event that problems occur with the cabinet carcass within 5 years of the purchase date, we will arrange a convenient time to inspect the goods. Provided that the goods have not been installed or maintained incorrectly, are in accordance with our installation / maintenance guidelines and are not subject to any maltreatment, we will organise a replacement part, free of charge.

For all other items, in the unlikely event of a defect in the raw material or its manufacturing, we will replace the faulty item / part (which will be assessed on a case by case basis). Please consult our returns section for more information.

Our Liability

As a consumer, you have legal rights in relation to goods that are faulty or not as described. If you would like further advice on this, please contact your local Citizens Advice Bureau or Trading Standards Office.

The following information is in addition to your statutory rights as a consumer. Your legal rights are not affected by these terms and conditions.

We warrant that on delivery, the goods you have ordered shall:

  1. be free from material defects in the material, design and workmanship; and
  2. conform in all material respects with the agreed specification.

You therefore accept that for the purposes of this section, natural imperfections, cracks resulting from organic timber expansion and contraction, and small variations in the colour and size of the goods shall not be non-conformities or material defects due to the nature of the goods being manufactured from natural timber. Equally you agree that you will treat all images and samples provided to you by us as only a relative guide, as stave width, lengths, colour and appearance will vary from one item to the next. Natural products cannot be uniformly replicated, and as a result we offer a sale by description service rather than sale by sample. As the customer, you agree that you have read and understood the 'Essential information' section above.

If confirmed in writing within 24 hours of delivery and prior to installation (in the case of non-conformities or defects apparent on reasonably careful visual inspection), and otherwise within 24 hours of discovery (in the case of latent non-conformities or defects), that some or all of the goods we have supplied do not comply with the warranty detailed above and we are given a reasonable opportunity to examine the goods and (if asked to do so) you return the goods to us at your own cost (unless the goods are found to be faulty or defective), then we shall (at our option) make repairs to, or replace the defective goods, or alternatively refund the price of the defective goods, subject to the following.

We shall not be liable for the goods' failure to comply with the warranty set out above if any of the following are applicable:

  1. if you make any further use of such goods after giving notice of a defect;
  2. if the defect arises as a result of us following any drawing, design or specification supplied by you;
  3. if the defect arises because you did not adhere to our installation and aftercare instructions and good trade practices as to the storage, installation, use and maintenance of the goods;
  4. if the defect arises as a result of fair wear and tear, wilful damage, negligence, or abnormal storage or working conditions;
  5. if you have altered or repaired such goods without our written consent; or
  6. if the goods differ from the agreed specification as a result of changes made to ensure they comply with applicable statutory or regulatory requirements.

Nothing in these terms shall limit or exclude our liability for:

  1. death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or the negligence of our employees, agents or subcontractors (as applicable);
  2. breach of the terms implied by section 12 of the Sale of Goods Act 1979;
  3. fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation; or
  4. any matter in respect of which it would be unlawful for us to exclude or restrict liability.

Subject to this:

  1. under absolutely no circumstances will we be liable to you, whether in contract, tort (including negligence), breach of statutory duty, or otherwise, for any indirect or consequential loss arising under or in connection with these terms and conditions; and
  2. as we are supplying the goods to you for domestic and private use, you agree not to use the goods for any commercial, business, or re-sale purpose. Furthermore we shall have no liability to you for any profit loss, loss of business, business interruption, or loss of business opportunity.

Force Majeure

Solid Wood Kitchen Cabinets cannot be liable for any failure or delay in performing our obligations under these terms and conditions to the extent that such failure or delay is caused by an event beyond our reasonable control. These include: strikes, lock-outs or other industrial disputes (whether involving our workforce or a third party's), failure of energy sources or transport network, acts of God, war, terrorism, riot, civil commotion, interference by civil or military authorities, national or international calamity, armed conflict, malicious damage, breakdown of plant or machinery, nuclear, chemical or biological contamination, sonic boom, explosions, collapse of building structures, fires, floods, storms, earthquakes, loss at sea, epidemics, or similar events, natural disasters or extreme adverse weather conditions, or default of suppliers or subcontractors.

A waiver of any right or remedy under these terms and conditions may only be effective if detailed in writing and shall not be deemed a waiver of any subsequent breach or default. No failure or delay by a party to exercise any right or remedy stipulated under these terms and conditions or by law shall constitute a waiver of that or any other right or remedy, nor shall it inhibit or restrict the further exercise of that or any other right or remedy. No single or partial exercise of such right or remedy shall prohibit or restrict the further exercise of that or any other right or remedy.

If any court or competent authority finds that any provision of these terms and conditions (or part of any provision) is invalid, illegal or unenforceable, that provision or part-provision shall, to the extent required, be deemed to be excluded. The validity and enforceability of all other provisions of these terms and conditions shall not be affected.

Governing law and jurisdiction

These terms and conditions, along with any dispute or claim arising out of or in connection with them or their subject matter or formation (including non-contractual disputes or claims), shall be governed by, and construed in accordance with, the law of England and Wales and the parties irrevocably submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
