How to Choose Between Solid Wood or Glazed Kitchen Cabinet Doors
Choosing the right doors for your cabinets can be tricky. Should you opt for solid wood or glazed kitchen cabinet doors? Will a Traditional or Shaker style suit your kitchen better? To help you decide between these options, we have put together this guide.
Solid Wood Doors
Our solid oak doors are available in two distinct designs – Shaker and Traditional. To deliver the highest quality possible, our cabinet doors are created at our Gloucestershire location using only the highest quality materials.
Solid Wood Shaker Doors
Solid wood Shaker doors have a simplistically elegant design that is styled on the popular Shaker movement. Constructed from 20mm thick oak with a matching solid centre panel surrounded by a crisp edge, these doors are ideal for a contemporary kitchen design.
Solid Wood Traditional Doors
As their name suggests, Solid Wood Traditional Doors are perfect for traditional style kitchens. They are made of 22mm thick oak surrounding a solid centre panel and have a timeless bevelled edge detail that makes them perfect for farmhouse kitchens.
Glazed Doors
Glazed Doors offer you the opportunity for further kitchen customisation. Like the solid wood doors, these are also available in Shaker and Traditional styles, but with the addition of toughened glass in the centre as a replacement for wood. Glazed doors bring an additional dimension to your kitchen cabinets.
Glazed Shaker Doors
Adding a transparency to your cabinets, Glazed Shaker Doors make the contents of your wall cupboards visible and by doing so add interest to your kitchen. The combination of glass and modern design make these cabinet doors even more contemporary.
Glazed Traditional Doors
Retaining a warm, traditional feel, glazed traditional doors feature lovely solid wood partitions that separate the toughened glass into four or six sections, depending on the height of the door.
Are Glazed Kitchen Cabinet Doors Right for Your Kitchen?
Glazed kitchen cabinet doors are versatile, adaptable and practical. One advantage is that they are a middle ground between solid cabinetry and open shelving – allowing you to store your items away whilst being able to view them. You could also add lighting under each shelf to give a beautiful ambience in the evening and create a warmth throughout your kitchen.
The aim of this guide was to compare the different styles of cabinet doors to make your choice simpler. Essentially though, choosing between solid wood or glazed kitchen cabinet doors comes down to personal preference.
