“Can I use your cabinets in bathrooms and other areas of the house?” Question of the Week 30.08.15
“Can I use your cabinets in bathrooms and areas other than solid wood kitchens?”
August’s last ‘Question of the Week’ comes to us from Jennifer from Cardiff, who would like to know if she could use our oak kitchen cabinets in home areas other than solid wood kitchens.
QUESTION:
“I have just installed a kitchen using your superb solid oak cabinets and have grand designs for my bathroom and a couple of other areas of the house. Is there any reason why I cannot use your cabinets in other rooms?”
ANSWER:
Hi Jennifer,
We are glad to hear you are happy with our kitchen cabinets, and hope that you will enjoy your kitchen for many years to come.
You most definitely can use our oak cabinets in other areas of the home, and we have delivered many orders to customers who have done this already.
Our solid oak kitchen cabinets all come with a lacquered finish as standard, which provides a level of water resistance that should be adequate for use in a bathroom, protecting the timber from splashes and condensation.
However, please keep in mind that whilst the lacquer can protect the timber to low levels of moisture, it is not intended to be a waterproof barrier, so we do not recommend positioning cabinets directly next to showers or baths, as excess moisture could still damage the wood.
If the cabinets do get wet, we recommend wiping them down at the earliest convenience to stop the wood warping, rotting or splitting.
Using our oak cabinets in other parts of the home should cause absolutely no problems if it is not a high-moisture environment. We have seen customers use our base and wall cabinets in living rooms, bedrooms and offices to provide hard-wearing storage spaces that can be easily tailored to fit the available space.
We hope this answers your query, but do feel free to get in touch if you have any further questions.
Kind Regards,
The Team @ Solid Wood Kitchen Cabinets
