How to Choose and Install Splashbacks in Solid Wood Kitchens
Though there is nothing better than swathes of natural materials in solid wood kitchens, sometimes – either out of necessity, or to add a splash of diversity to the kitchen – certain additions are necessary to complete the look. Our range of splashbacks come in a range of colours, finishes and sizes, offering enough diversity to suit almost any kitchen; keep reading to find out more.
Glass Splashbacks
Our variety of glass splashbacks are made from a hard-wearing tempered glass that is the perfect backdrop for hobs and sinks. For a modern kitchen, our brighter colours are ideal for adding a dash of vibrance.
The beautifully smooth surface makes these splashbacks hygienic and incredibly easy to clean, with a reflective quality that increases the sense of space in your kitchen and helps mitigate any lack of natural light.
As well as the brighter colours on offer, both our black and white splashbacks are suited to ultra-modern and traditional kitchens alike.
Stainless Steel Splashbacks
As a beautiful contemporary alternative, our great value stainless steel splashbacks add a supplementary texture to your kitchen environment; and whilst they lack the reflective qualities of our glass splashbacks, they are more in-keeping with the many stainless steel appliances that are so common in a modern kitchen.
They still offer the same hygienic and easy-to-clean qualities as our glass splashbacks, and will never rust thanks to the top quality 430-grade brushed stainless steel used in their construction. The layer of stainless steel is adhered to a sheet of moisture-resistance MDF to ensure the splashbacks remain rigid and are easy to install in any kitchen.
Installing Splashbacks
Before installation, be aware that glass can be easily damaged on hard surfaces, and that care should be taken to protect the corners, as impact can cause the product to crack.
Whether you choose glass or stainless steel splashbacks, they’re incredibly straightforward to install in your new kitchen.
- Check the dimensions of your hob or sink and ensure that you order the most suitable size splashback for the space. Also make sure it will fit underneath any cooker hoods or cabinets above your chosen spot.
- Ensure the surface you are fixing to is flat, non-porous, dry and dust-free.
- Remove the covering from the self-adhesive backing and fit the splashback to the wall, using spacers or small blocks of wood to leave a gap between the worktop and surrounding cabinets or tiling.
- Remove the spacers and apply firm pressure evenly over the whole surface area.
- Use a waterproof sealant to seal all edges of the splashback with a bead of silicone no less than 2.5mm in thickness.
Our splashbacks are excellent value for money and the collection starts at just £30. To view the entire range, visit our kitchen splashbacks page for further information.
