We offer a wide range of cabinets that match beautifully to create the kitchen you have always desired, but without difficult installation that requires a professional. With a little DIY know-how, and a basic selection of tools, you can fit our solid oak kitchen cabinets with ease.
If you are curious to know how easy it is to fit our kitchen cabinets before placing an order, just follow the simple steps below and you’ll be well on your way to knowing how to transform your kitchen.
Do remember that before you start fitting kitchen wall cabinets you will want to paint walls and prepare your ceiling or floor if necessary. Finally, be sure to turn off water and power supplies whilst fitting cabinets (for safety reasons).
1. Using a spirit level, mark a horizontal line on the wall for the bottom edge of your wall cabinets to line up with. Take into consideration how far you will have to reach to access your cabinets, and how much space you require on the worktop underneath the cabinets for appliances or other items. Commonly 500 – 600mm is a large enough gap.
2. Next, using a tape measure, mark the distance from the line you’ve drawn to where the top of the cabinets should sit. Use your spirit level again to draw a flat, straight line at the point marked. You can then measure from this line down approximately 34mm to where two holes will be need to be drilled to attach each wall bracket.
3. Our wall cabinets are supplied with two fixing brackets to attach them safely to the wall. These attach to corresponding lever-bracket in the top corners of the cabinet. Your type of wall will dictate how to correctly attach them; if you are attaching to a brick wall, make sure you use wall plugs. If your kitchen has stud walls, then attach cabinets in line with vertical uprights to provide the best support, or alternatively use cavity fixings to ensure the screws have something to grip on to.
4. Hook the wall cabinets onto the brackets, and use the spirit level to check that the cabinet is straight. The brackets inside the cabinet are designed so that you can adjust them vertically and horizontally if necessary, and then tighten them onto the wall brackets to make them secure.
5. If you are positioning multiple cabinets side-by-side, you should attach them together using 25mm screws. Use a clamp to hold them firmly in place so that your cabinets do not move when drilling through the cabinet sides. Now you’re ready to decide on shelf heights, affix pelmets and cornices, and attach your cabinet doors.
This guide, along with the assembly instructions included with all of our solid wood kitchen cabinets, should be enough to get you well on your way to affixing our wall cabinets.
