A Guide to Blum Hinges in Oak Kitchens
If orderings cabinets with matching doors for oak kitchens directly from our website, we will supply the appropriate hinges required from Blum’s CLIP top BLUMOTION range.
Some hinges from this Austrian cabinet accessory specialist feature a unique soft-close mechanism, whilst all can be fitted with great ease using the Blum ECODRILL, which is available from us to hire or purchase.
In this guide, we have provided further details about each of the hinges that may be included with our oak kitchen cabinets, so that you are familiar with them once your kitchen components arrive.
Blum BLUMOTION 110° Cabinet Hinge
The 110° hinge from Blum is most suitable for any base or wall cabinets with standard solid oak frontals. It allows the cabinet doors to open sufficiently, whilst including a BLUMOTION soft-close mechanism, which can be disabled – should you wish.
This hinge also includes an easy-removal mechanism that makes it incredibly easy to remove kitchen unit doors, whilst holding it securely in place in the meantime.
We recommend two of these hinges for cabinets up to 900mm tall, and three for any taller cabinets.
If you would like to purchase this hinge separately from our cabinets and frontals, they can be ordered in either a twin or triple pack from our Blum Hinge Packs page for £10 and £15 respectively.
Blum BLUMOTION 155° Cabinet Hinge
If you are fitting cabinet frontals that need to open considerably wider than the standard 110° CLIP top Blum hinge allows, then consider this 155° variant instead.
The extra flexibility makes this hinge suitable for cabinets featuring internal drawers or wirework that may require the door to open further than usual.
This hinge includes a removable BLUMOTION soft-close mechanism that simply clips onto the top of the hinge, and can – like the 110° version – be easily removed if needed.
Just two of these hinges are needed for any cabinets up to 900mm tall, whilst three are recommended for full-height kitchen larder units.
To purchase this hinge separately from cabinets and frontals, visit our Blum Hinge Packs page, where they can be ordered in a twin pack for £20.
Blum BLUMOTION 60° Bi-Fold & Corner Cabinet Hinge
If you are ordering a cabinet with bi-fold doors, or one of our L-shaped corner cabinets, you will find that they are supplied with Blum’s 60° hinge.
Unlike the other hinges in Blum’s range, this hinge does include an inbuilt soft-close mechanism, and instead relies on a separate lift-up mechanism for bi-fold doors. A screw on the top of the hinge adjusts the maximum angle the door can extend to.
Whilst we do not currently sell these hinges separately, they may be provided on request – please contact us for details.
To see examples of these hinges in use, we recommend visiting one of our solid wood kitchen cabinet showrooms, where each hinge can be seen in action in one of our demonstration kitchens.
