“Which Of Your Sinks Are Best Suited To Traditional Oak Kitchens?” Question Of The Week 06.03.16
“Which Of Your Sinks Are Best Suited To Traditional Oak Kitchens?”
This week’s question was emailed to us by Lucy in the Lake District. Already an oak kitchen convert, Lucy is weighing up which sink would make the best addition to her existing design.
QUESTION:
“I love the classic charm of my oak kitchen! However, all the components were here when we moved in and I would really like to upgrade my current sink. Which sinks would you recommend as best suited to my traditional style?”
ANSWER:
Hi Lucy,
Thank you for emailing us – it’s great to hear that you are as enamoured with oak kitchens as we are. Sinks may seem like a kitchen component that should stand the test of time, but as the years pass they can start to show wear and tear; fortunately, it is fairly easy to change a sink, and updating components can certainly give kitchens a new lease of life. Here at Solid Wood Kitchen Cabinets we offer a range of kitchen sinks, including overmounted, undermounted and Belfast sinks. Overmounted sinks are better suited to contemporary houses, whereas either an undermounted or a Belfast sink would be ideal for your traditional kitchen.
If you prefer a sleeker and more discreet look, our ‘Calypso’ undermounted sink range would make an excellent choice; available with 1 bowl or 1.5 bowl options, and a smooth curved bowl, this collection is ideal for a traditional aesthetic. Undermounted kitchen sinks can be installed by removing your worktops and then fitting the sink between the base units and the worktop, giving a more subtle appearance. These sinks are made from stainless steel, guaranteeing a durable, easy-to-clean finish.
Alternatively, you may prefer the look of our Belfast sink. We currently stock a Rangemaster® Classic Belfast Sink with a single bowl: a beautiful traditional style often found in farmhouse kitchens. Sometimes known as a butler sink, these ceramic basins come with a weir overflow and a glossy white finish. It’s also worth noting that Rangemaster sinks benefit from a fantastic ten-year guarantee and are made in Britain. Installation is easy, too: these sinks will sit neatly atop one of our Belfast sink cabinets, merely requiring a Chrome Waste Kit to connect the sink to standard sink plumbing. Nothing says ‘traditional British kitchen’ quite like a Belfast sink.
We hope this explanation will help you find the right style of sink for your home, Lucy, but don’t hesitate to get in touch again if you need any further advice. If you are considering updating any other kitchen components, please take a look at our solid wood cabinets, wirework storage solutions and cabinet handles.
Kind Regards,
The Team @ Solid Wood Kitchen Cabinets
