Welcome Spring with a Splash of Colour for Solid Oak Kitchens
The annual ‘spring clean’ period offers the perfect opportunity to dust away the cobwebs with a zesty injection of colour. There is only a month of winter left, which means it’s time to open the shutters and welcome spring into your solid oak kitchens: our favourite frost-banishing colour combinations are sure to help!
Farrow & Ball has spoiled us this season, and their new colour drop does not disappoint. Their latest shades are absolutely perfect for giving your kitchen a refresh, and can be combined in any number of ways to achieve the effect you are looking for. One of the most eye-catching new paints is Vardo, which is named after the traditional style of horse-drawn gypsy wagon – with such a name, it is no surprise this colour is fun and flamboyant. Vardo is also incredibly versatile; it looks wonderfully clean-cut against white hues, and decidedly elegant when paired with soft greys such as Worsted (another new offering from Farrow & Ball for 2016). What is also brilliant about this shade is how well it works in a classic colour clash: we’d highly recommend teaming it with the verdant Yeabridge Green, which has a freshness that would complement Vardo beautifully. As an added bonus, these colours fit perfectly with the 2016 trend report from the National Kitchen and Bathroom Association, who identify a shift towards white and grey cabinetry this year: Vardo and Yeabridge Green would make an excellent pairing for spring’s white-washed walls.
If you are seeking a slightly gentler look, an easy-going pastel palette also looks splendid with white or soft grey cabinet fronts. We recommend Farrow & Ball shades such as charmingly sunny Dayroom Yellow, fresh Cooking Apple Green, or timeless and blushing Setting Plaster. A splash of pastels is ideal for giving winter the freeze out, and can be used liberally in oak kitchens without becoming overpowering.
If you are considering buying cabinets for your solid oak kitchen, you’ll happy to know that it’s easy to ‘try before you buy’: simply order one of our frontal samples to see the high quality of our products before committing to a purchase! They are available sanded, lacquered or painted in any colour from Farrow & Ball, and the cost of samples can be deducted from your future Solid Wood Kitchen Cabinets order.
