Choosing Sinks for Oak Kitchens
Solid Wood Kitchen Cabinets recently introduced a wide range of sinks that complement our oak kitchens perfectly. Whether you are looking to create a traditional kitchen with farmhouse appeal, or something altogether more contemporary, our range of sinks can accommodate almost any requirements.
In this information guide, we would like to help you to decide which sink might suit your kitchen by taking a closer look at the range we now have available.
Choosing Sinks for Modern Kitchens
Selecting a suitable sink for a contemporary kitchen is a relatively easy task, as there are a wide selection of stainless steel sinks that may suit your kitchen’s size, layout and design.
Fundamentally there are two designs of kitchen sink to choose for a modern kitchen: an undermounted sink that – as the name suggests – attaches to the underside of the worktop, or an overmounted sink which sits on top of the worktop and has a draining board attached.
All of the WEX sinks in our collection are undermounted, and are available in single bowl or 1.5 bowl configurations – depending on the worktop space available, and your kitchen requirements.
Our selection of overmounted sinks are provided by Rangemaster, and come in a number of different contemporary styles. Some models are reversible, whilst others are available with either a right or left-hand drainer.
Choosing Sinks for Traditional Kitchens
For a classic kitchen design one style of sink still stands out as the most popular choice: the Belfast sink. This single bowl ceramic design has changed very little over a few hundred years, and is derived from the very similar ‘Butler’ sink.
Belfast sinks are easy to clean, very spacious, and have a high overflow that allows water to easily flush away and stop the sink from over-filling. The Rangemaster Belfast sink is reversible, and only requires the addition of a Chrome Waste Kit to attach directly to standard kitchen sink plumbing.
Belfast sinks are not the only sinks that are suitable for traditional kitchens – undermounted sinks with smooth radius corners can also be used in conjunction with the right choice of tap. We offer a number of undermounted sinks in either single or 1.5 bowl options, which are designed to be unobtrusive in their design and not detract from other traditional elements in a kitchen.
Taking a closer look at kitchen sinks
Whilst we are primarily an online retailer, we have launched a number of Solid Wood Kitchen Cabinet showrooms across England, with further destinations due to open very soon.
Each of our showrooms has a Belfast sink on display in combination with wooden worktops, as well as a variety of stainless steel sinks including a display of Rangemaster’s most popular overmounted options.
To find out what sinks are on display at your local kitchen showroom, we recommend contacting your closest showroom before paying them a visit.
