Would You Recommend Using A Wood Effect Worktop With A Solid Wood Kitchen? Question Of The Week 04.06.17
“WOULD YOU RECOMMEND USING A WOOD EFFECT WORKTOP WITH A SOLID WOOD KITCHEN?”
Our customer ‘Question of the Week’ has been sent in by Dorit in Paignton, who wants to know how laminate worktops will look against solid wood kitchen cabinets.
QUESTION:
“I have small children and would like laminate worktops because they are more practical for my household and cheaper. Would you recommend using a wood effect worktop in a solid wood kitchen?”
ANSWER:
Hi Dorit,
Thank you for getting in touch with us – this is a great question, and one I’m sure many will be pondering.
The main things to consider will be the colour and finish of your kitchen cabinets and the type of wood effect worktop you have selected. Our selection of colours and finishes for cabinet frontals means you can create a variety of different looks and styles in your kitchen. The range of wood effect laminate work surfaces we have on offer is sure to include the perfect option to complement your ideal look. To create a farmhouse style kitchen, an oak effect option could work well alongside frontals painted in Farrow & Ball’s All White, whilst Cypress Cinnamon combined with bespoke Pelt frontals offer a more modern theme.
The only combination that we don’t generally recommend, is pairing lacquered oak cabinet frontals with an oak effect surface. Displaying real oak alongside a laminate alternative highlights the differences and may not create a particularly pleasing look. Again, this will largely be down to your personal preference and style – wood is a natural product so there will be some variation even in solid oak items, so we would recommend seeing the components for yourself before making a decision.
Our kitchen showrooms are the perfect way to see our impressive range, though your closest is in Gloucester, which may be a little far. We do however offer a sample service that is perfect if you are unsure of exactly what you want and would perhaps like to try out a few different combinations. Our laminate worktop sample packs include a selection of laminate surface samples, including our wood effect worktops.
We hope that this has given you some direction and a few points to consider before you finalise your kitchen plans! We would love to see how you get on, so please don’t hesitate in sharing any images on Facebook or Instagram. In the meantime, if there is anything further we can assist you with, please feel free to contact us again.
Kind regards,
The Team @ Solid Wood Kitchen Cabinets
