Buying Inbuilt Appliances for Solid Oak Kitchens
If you have decided that one of our solid oak kitchens would perfectly suit your home, then it is unlikely that you would want to spoil it with lots of unsightly appliances. Fortunately, many modern appliances can be easily hidden behind solid oak frontals, so as to blend them seamlessly in with the kitchen design.
Though they may help improve the aesthetics of a solid wood kitchen, most inbuilt appliances do not afford quite the same space as separate appliances, so if you need lots of space in which to refrigerate food; or if you require the capacity to do large loads of washing; or should you want the flexibility of a large range-style cooker; inbuilt appliances might not suit your kitchen.
Choosing the right cabinet
If you require solid oak housing to suit a standard 600mm width oven, consider our oven housing kitchen cabinet. Each cabinet includes two solid wood inserts that support the appliance, whilst providing space underneath for necessary plumbing or wiring.
For other inbuilt appliances such as fridges or freezers, our standard solid oak cabinets can often be used and easily adapted to suit.
We also offer a range of full height cabinets that are perfect for either double or single height ovens and are available with a variety of door or drawer combinations.
Picking frontals
Whilst some appliances (such as ovens) benefit from being on show, you may simply want to hide others away so as not to spoil the look of your kitchen.
Our solid oak frontals can be easily attached to inbuilt appliances to create a seamless look. Most inbuilt appliances feature points to which you can easily screw the frontal, but if not they can be attached using an adhesive silicone.
If your appliance does not fit the full height of a standard door, we recommend using a slim drawer frontal to cover the bottom of the appliance.
Buying appliances
Your favoured appliances will be determined by your budget and style preferences.
When choosing an oven, consider how well they will fit with the design of your kitchen. Inbuilt ovens commonly are only available in a modern design, so if you are trying to recreate a more traditional kitchen theme, you may want to consider a free-standing range cooker or even an Aga.
Other inbuilt appliances that can be hidden away behind frontals include: dishwashers, washing machines, fridges and freezers. Most are just under 600mm wide and designed to fit perfectly into one of our standard base cabinets, but do check the width before making a purchase.
If you would like to see some examples of inbuilt appliances fitted into a solid oak kitchen, consider visiting one of our solid wood kitchen cabinet showrooms, where you will find a range quality of appliances on display.
