Using Solid Oak Kitchen Cabinets to Create a Perfect Utility Room
When it comes to laundry day, you want the experience to be as quick, efficient and hassle-free as possible, freeing up your time so you can spend it doing the things you really want to. With brushes, dusters, cloths and utensils all strategically tidied away, a utility room can combine savvy storage and chic styling for maximum utility in the busy modern household. To minimise the time spent performing household chores, we recommend a practical and well-designed utility room layout, in which you can use our functional and beautiful solid oak kitchen cabinets to optimise your use of space.
USING OUR SOLID OAK KITCHEN CABINETS FOR YOUR UTILITY ROOM
Solid oak cabinetry is vitally important for ensuring your utility room remains beautifully organised and clutter-free, allowing you make a start on all your essential tasks without obstacles. Available in a wide variety of different sizes, our cabinets also come with frontals in a finish of your choice. Whether you prefer a Traditional or Shaker door, both styles can be lacquered or painted in any colour from our paint manufacturers of choice, Farrow & Ball. Moreover, cabinet handles come in a host of designs, so whether a contemporary steel bar or a traditional wooden knob is more suited to your home, there are plenty of possibilities to choose from. For cosy, well-loved homes and stylish modern builds, we have a plentiful array of options to suit every style.
In addition to our standard base, drawer and wall units, we also offer specialist cabinetry, helping to shape your fixtures and fittings around your daily activities and the unique features of your utility room. These include sink housing cabinets for over- and under-mounted sinks, Belfast sink cabinets, wine rack cabinets and curved corner units.
For utility rooms, we recommend interchanging base units with drawer units, creating ample room to store infrequently used items such as kitchen pans (as well as smaller items like clothes and cleaning products).
If you are keen to maintain a consistent aesthetic, it is possible to purchase cabinetry that will accommodate a washing machine (thus keeping the appliance hidden and creating a seamless appearance). This option requires a 600mm gap on either side and as such is ideal for narrower appliances. Please be aware that if you opt for a ‘hidden’ washing machine like this, it is also recommended that you purchase a moisture barrier to help protect your worktop from excess moisture.

OPEN WALL UNITS FOR EASY ACCESS
When selecting your base and wall units, it can be highly beneficial to opt for one or two without frontals. This open cabinetry allows you to locate and access items speedily, and can be a decorative way to store recipe books, crockery and vases too. You may like to decant food from packets into matching labelled enamelware, to turn everyday items into things of beauty. Coated in a high-quality lacquer, these cabinets require no extra finish if you choose to leave their contents on display. For additional much-needed storage room, base cabinets can accommodate up to four shelves, and open wall units can incorporate attractive oak plate racks too.

Do you make tall cupboards that would store a broom/mop/vacuum cleaner, for a utility room?
thanks

Hello Mrs Miller,
Our full-height cabinets can be re-purposed as utility room storage, and have definitely been provided for such a function to many previous customers.
You may wish to use either our H1965mm or H2145mm tall cabinets. The units are supplied pre-assembled with 2 fixed shelves, therefore to use as a utility storage I would advise sending this unit flat packed to you so that you can position the shelves more suited to your requirements. You can then choose to have either one full-height door, or a 70/30 split door arrangement.
I hope this answers your query, but if not feel free to email or call us.
Kind regards,
Ben @ Solid Wood Kitchen Cabinets

I’ve designed, sold and fitted kitchens in the New Zealand for nearly 20 years. In that time I’ve “helped” a couple of friends out who were on a super budget and used the best products like this.
