Colours of the Month: Brighten Oak Kitchens Ready for Easter

Posted by admin on March 25, 2015 at 2:08 pm. Filed under: General

Days are getting longer and brighter, the flowers are starting to arise from their wintery cover, and life is re-emerging to welcome in spring; what better time could there be to bring some extra colour to your kitchen?

In the second of our Farrow & Ball colour combination blogs, we are looking at a palette of colours that would look fabulous alongside natural wooden kitchen worktops and solid wood kitchen cabinets in oak kitchens.

The bright tones of Farrow’s Cream, smouldering richness of Red Earth and fabulous vivid blue shade of Lulworth Blue are all fantastic choices to feature as the primary colour in your new or refurbished kitchen. Consider pairing Farrow’s Cream or Lulworth Blue with one of our luxurious dark wooden worktops such as walnut or iroko, whilst the deep tones of Red Earth will look superb alongside a bright worktop option such as maple, Prime Oak or bamboo.

Farrow’s Cream was our ‘Colour of the Month’ in December 2014; a creamy yellow that features alongside light blues, greys, whites and other hues in our ‘Pastels’ collection, whilst Red Earth is a deep terracotta red that we highlighted back in August 2013 and sits at the heart of our ‘Strong Accents’ range of bold kitchen colours.

Lastly, Lulworth Blue – one of our bespoke colour options – is a ‘baby’ blue with a faint tincture of grey that shows through in lower lighting. It is described by Farrow & Ball as a mid-tone Regency blue, and we think it’s the perfect companion for light oak worktops in a classic or farmhouse kitchen setting.

If you would like to see samples of any of these colours for yourself, then why not order one of our miniature painted cabinet door kitchen samples? Each is a perfect replica of one of our full-size cabinet frontals, and can be supplied in any Farrow & Ball shade you might desire – whether it features in our existing colour collections, or is a bespoke colour of your own choice. Alternatively, visit one of our kitchen showrooms to discuss all the options available, and to see a variety of painted kitchens alongside our entire range of cabinet door samples.

No matter whether you are still in the planning phases of your new kitchen, or contemplating a refresh for your current kitchen design, ordering a set of kitchen samples can give you a helping hand.

At Solid Wood Kitchen Cabinets, our range of kitchen samples are the ideal tonic to spur you into creating solid wood kitchens that suit your home, negating the need for guesswork (which is unfortunately a necessity when dealing with so many online retailers).

Cabinet sample

First, to see the incredible quality of our wood kitchen units, we recommend ordering one of our cabinet samples. Each 160mm x 80mm x 18mm sample panel shows off the high-quality European oak that is used to construct our cabinets, and is sanded to a smooth finish and lacquered in the same production facility as the cabinets themselves. Each cabinet sample is priced at just £5 including delivery.

Next, think about which doors will suit your kitchen design. Our kitchen door samples are available in either a Shaker or Traditional design and are perfect miniature replicas of the full-size oak equivalents, manufactured in exactly the same way. Measuring 355mm (height) x 296mm (width), these samples are available in our full range of finishes; whether you would prefer to see them sanded, lacquered or painted in one of the Farrow & Ball colours in our collection. Order samples of our solid oak kitchen doors with any of these finishes for just £20 including fast delivery.

Finally, our wooden worktops provide a stunning centrepiece for your kitchen. With 18 different worktop variations, choosing a favourite can be a tough choice. Fortunately, our worktop samples are great value way of viewing the timbers in the lighting of your own kitchen, alongside your existing kitchen features.

Worktop sample

Each worktop sample comes from existing worktop stock, measures 200mm x 150mm in a choice of both 40mm and 27mm thicknesses, and is provided with the top face and edges pre-oiled in order to represent the quality of our hardwood worktops. Order a sample of any one of our solid wooden worktops for just £5 including courier delivery.

Kitchen gadget of the month Wifi kettle

Here on the blog we have looked at a wide variety of unusual kitchen gadgets to complement our oak kitchens, but we can’t forget the staple small appliances in a kitchen such as this new kettle from UK company ‘Smarter’.

Don’t be disappointed though, this isn’t just any kettle, this is the Smarter Wifikettle that has the ability to pre-boil your water to a variety of temperatures ready for you to enjoy as soon as you wake up, get in from work or muster up the effort to get up from your comfy sofa.

Using a handy connected smartphone/tablet app, the Wifikettle can be remotely set to 65, 85, 95 or 100° Celsius to match perfectly with your preferred hot beverage.

Not only that, but it can also be set on a timer to boil your kettle at just the right time, advise exactly the right time to pour your kettle judged by your chosen temperature, and even remind you to refill the kettle once it is empty. Like the idea of a cuppa as soon as you wake up? The Smarter Wifikettle can also be set up to tie in with your phone’s alarm.

If you use a smartphone for organising every aspect of your life, or simply don’t like to stand around waiting for your kettle to boil, this could be the perfect new gadget for your kitchen. Smartphone addicts out there might even be reading this blog on their device; though, if not, did you know that our website is now fully suited for viewing on any smartphone or tablet? Our team have worked hard to implement a convenient new responsive design, which automatically adapts to suit your internet browser of choice.

We hope you enjoy our website’s updated look; don’t forget to share any feedback with us by connecting on Facebook, Twitter or Google Plus.
