Spaces that are filled with the luxurious materials that make up our kitchens – such as our solid oak kitchen cabinets and range of solid hardwood worktops – deserve equally rich colours to help them stand out from the crowd.
To round off April, we are looking at a palette from Farrow & Ball that features three opulent shades, all of which are ideal for a variety of design combinations in oak kitchens.
Incarnadine is arguably Farrow & Ball’s most imposing shade of red, whilst Studio Green looks almost black in some lighting, and a sumptuous dark green in well-lit interiors. Lastly, Vert de Terre, which was our ’Colour of the Month’ in May 2014, is best described as a complex green that is lighter than Farrow & Ball’s Mizzle, and less stony than Pigeon, putting it firmly at the top of our ‘Accents’ collection.
Consider painting cabinet doors in the dark red tones of Incarnadine to complement lighter hardwood worktops such as our oak worktops, whilst frontals painted in Vert de Terre suit a full-toned choices such as our walnut worktops or iroko worktops.
Studio Green is an ideal accent colour, but can also be used to paint cabinet frontals if combined with lighter colours, as it can absorb light in darker kitchens. Consider mixing it with maple worktops or even our bamboo worktops in an ultra-modern kitchen setting.
To see any of these colours up-close for yourself, contemplate ordering one of our miniature painted cabinet door kitchen samples. Each sample is hand-finished and available in the colours featured in this blog, or can be painted to your bespoke requirement in any of the other shades in Farrow & Ball’s collection. Alternatively, visit one of our kitchen showrooms to see a number of suggested design schemes, or discuss what colour combination may best suit your kitchen.
Last month we launched our extremely successful #TastyTech Facebook competition which finished on April 12th. After nearly two thousand entries, a winner was picked to receive over £380 worth of gourmet gadgetry for their kitchen.
Shelley Arnott was randomly chosen as our lucky winner, receiving a host of gadgets previously featured in our ‘Gadget of the Month’ blogs, including a Panasonic Bread Maker, Tefal 8-in-1 Multi Cooker and a set of Morphy Richards 3-in-1 jug scales. The prize everyone was really after, however, was the Kenwood Patissier MX313 food mixer, and as such we simply had to feature it as April’s gadget of choice.
With this retro-styled food mixer, we hope Shelley will be mixing up tasty sponge cakes, crumbly pastries and more with the Pattisier’s 400w total mix ‘planetary action’ and three different dedicated bowl tools. As well as beating, hooking and whisking, the 6 speed electronic slide control allows for precise consistency when stirring or kneading to create perfectly light, fluffy mixtures.
The Pattisier food mixer is priced at £199.99 from Currys and comes with a splashguard to avoid unnecessary mess when mixing in flour or sugar in solid oak kitchens. It also features a quick release head lift, to allow easy removal of the 4-litre aluminium mixing bowl.
We look forward to seeing what Shelley creates with her mixer and other kitchen gadgets, and if you entered the competition this time but didn’t win, do keep an eye on our Facebook and Twitter feeds for more competitions, information guides and other exciting news!
For the last two weeks we have been offering customers a fantastic saving of 10% off components for solid wood kitchens. There are now fewer than two days in which to save, so if you are thinking of placing an order with us, don’t delay and get that saving today – the offer ends tomorrow, Tuesday the 14th of April at 23:59pm!
Simply enter the code SPRING10 at our online checkout (or mention it to one of our sales advisors via email or telephone), and we’ll knock 10% off any cabinets and related accessories.
Savings can be had on our hardwood kitchen cabinets, oak kitchen doors and drawer fronts, cornices & pelmets, handles for kitchen cabinets, kitchen wirework and a variety of other fantastic accessories. The only products not included in this promotion are our wooden worktops, (which are already great value for money) and our kitchen samples.
It may be a little late to order samples if you’d like to take advantage of sale prices, but if you live close to one of our two wood kitchen showrooms then why not pay us a visit to see our products in the flesh before placing an order?
Choosing the right kind of doors for your new kitchen is key to dictating the overall theme. At Solid Wood Kitchen Cabinets, we sell two types of doors: Shaker and Traditional. Our Shaker Doors have simple, clean lines that are ideal for modern kitchens, whilst the additional ornate detail of our Traditional doors are – as the name might suggest – best suited for oak kitchens with a classic or country feel.
Whether you are hoping for a rustic farmhouse kitchen or an elegant classical design, our Traditional solid oak kitchen doors are a perfect choice, featuring a detailed border that surrounds the door’s centre panel.
This type of door suits the natural look of exposed oak timber exceptionally well, and is available in either a smooth sanded finish for you to paint, stain or protect in your own preferred style; a pre-lacquered finish which is incredibly hard-wearing and easy to wipe clean; or a painted finish, utilising any one of the beautiful Farrow & Ball shades in our range (or a bespoke colour if you have something special in mind).
Like our kitchen cabinets, all our solid oak kitchen doors are constructed entirely from 20mm thick oak, and unlike alternatives from our competitors, that even includes the 6mm thick centre panel. Glazed variants are also available (customers can choose from either tinted or frosted glass): a perfect option for showing off glassware and complementing wooden wall cabinets.
Order our traditional doors along with matching oak cabinets and we will also include high-quality Blum™ BLUMOTION™ soft-close hinges. We also offer a wide range of handles for kitchen cabinets, which includes metal and wooden choices, to suit any kitchen theme.
To view the quality of our Traditional doors before placing an order, why not visit one of our kitchen showrooms, or order one of our miniature door samples? They can be provided in a sanded or lacquered finish, or pre-painted in any of Farrow & Ball’s extensive range of colours.
